It was my intention when setting up Andrews Opticians to provide quality eye health care and establish a local service that gave back to the wider community. My mission statement is "CARE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY".
One of my main aims was to inform members of the general public that they may be eligible for free NHS sight tests, who other wise may have allowed serious health issues go unchecked, resulting in untreatable medical conditions. I have been building relationships with local Schools, Nursing homes and elderly support groups, giving talks and presentations explaining the benefits of regular eye examinations, which have been proven to increase levels of educational success, improve behavioural problems in children and reduce accidents at home and provide a better quality of life for the elderly.
There is nothing new about testing eyes and the benefits that can prevail, however there is a key element that has been removed from my profession due to the large high street names. Heavy advertising and cheap prices are the norm, but what is lacking is the professional personal touch. My product is eye health care; my service is to provide a superior level of customer satisfaction and community support. My unique selling point is that my name is above the door and that my aim is for 100% customer satisfaction in a price competitive retail environment.
The innovation comes from developing an understanding of market segments that may otherwise go untested and which other opticians tend not to pursue.
